Summary: Coverage of Gen. Curtis E. LeMay, Vice Chief of Staff, accompanied by Maj. Gen. David Wade, Commander, 1st Missile Division and party inspecting the missile range area at Vandenberg AFB. Scenes are included of Gen. LeMay, Maj. Gen. Wade and party alighting from H-21B at the SM-75 Thor complex and being greeted by Col. Robert W. Christy, Commander, 392nd Missile Training Sqdn., inspecting launcher A, going to the SM-65 area by H-21B and inspecting the SM-68 Titan complex. Curtis Emerson LeMay (November 15, 1906 – October 1, 1990) was an American Air Force general who implemented an effective but controversial strategic bombing campaign in the Pacific theater of World War II. He later served as Chief of Staff of the U.S. Air Force from 1961 to 1965. LeMay joined the U.S. Army Air Corps, the precursor to the U.S. Air Force, in 1929 while studying civil engineering at Ohio State University. David Wade biography (b. 1911, Minden, La.; d. May 11, 1990) reached the rank of lieutenant general and assumed command of SAC's Second Air Force, Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana on August 1, 1963. He later took command of the Eighth Air Force on August 1, 1966. He retired from Air Force service on March 1, 1967.
